Zakhele Lepasa might not be an out and out starter at club level but Bafana Bafana boss Hugo Broos is definitely a fan of the striker.

Lepasa might find himself in trouble at international level if is club situation doesn’t improve.

While he spent time on loan at SuperSport United this past season, he will likely be back in the fold at Orlando Pirates. But how much game time will he get?

Broos is wary of the player’s club form impacting him at the highest level, reports SABC Sport.

Lepasa situation confuses Broos

“I said it already in the past, Zakhele is always a player in his club who has problems. He didn’t play in Pirates, now with SuperSport he doesn’t play every game or parts of the game and I really don’t understand it,” added Broos.

Lepasa made his Bafana Bafana debut in September last year against Sierra Leone and has scored three goals in his six appearances under Broos.

Lepasa scored in the win over Liberia which booked the national’s team place at AFCON 2024.

National boss rates him

“You see I give him confidence because I know he’s a good striker. He’s a good striker but you have to give him confidence, first of all. He still has to improve but I’m very happy with him,” Broos said.

“Every game he played; he made an important goal in Liberia so I don’t think for defenders it’s nice to play against him. He’s quick.”

“We always ask him ‘Zakhele go deep, you’re quick’ and he did it. I’m very happy with him and for me, it’s a little surprising that he’s really not a standard player in his clubs.”
