Karim Benzema is undoubtedly a Real Madrid icon and one of the finest footballers of his generation. If he had been born in any other generation, without Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo changing the game, perhaps he might have been the greatest player of them all.

After 14 seasons at the club, the Frenchman has moved to the Saudi Pro League with Al-Ittihad on a lucrative three-year contract. That’s a true testament to the selfless type of player he was in the Spanish capital for all these years.

Indeed, it’s a period of massive change for a number of veteran football legends in the European scene.
