Kaizer Chiefs star midfielder George Matlou has urged his teammates and fans to move on from the MTN8 exit. He dispels the talk of a poor start.

Chiefs were controversially booted out of the MTN8 by Mamelodi Sundowns last weekend, and Matlou dispels the talk that they didn’t start well under coach Molefi Ntseki.

Following the 2-1 loss to Sundowns in the cup competition, Chiefs managed to return to winning ways as they beat Sekhukhune United 2-1 in the DStv Premiership.

CHIEFS STAR DISPELS TALK OF POOR START AMID MTN8 EXIT

After the win at Moses Mabhida Stadium, the former Moroka Swallows star Matlou said it’s useless to remain disappointed.

He added that the win over Sekhukhune means they can be able to change their fortunes around and challenge for the league honours.

“I don’t think we’ve had a poor start. You can see how we are playing. It’s a matter of time before we get the goals,” Matlou told the media.

“About our MTN8 elimination… Yes, we were disappointed. Of course, we deserved better, judging by how we played and how hard the boys are working.

“But we can’t dwell on the past… we have to move on. If we are going to dwell on the past, we are not going to move on.”

As they prepare to host Cape Town City in an enticing Premiership match at FNB Stadium next Tuesday, Matlou and Co. will look to maintain their winning run.

CHIEFS STAR ADDRESSES STRUGGLES AT NATURENA

Meanwhile, The South African recently reported that the midfielder, who suffered a number of injury setbacks, explained why he struggled at Naturena.

“It is just hard work,” Matlou is quoted by iDiski Times.

“Of course, I didn’t have the best start last season. Unfortunately, I got injured. Injuries were there for me last season, but I just make sure that whenever I’m given a chance, I’m just going to use it.”

“No matter how many minutes I play, what matters most is me playing, giving my best.”
