Kaizer Chiefs continue to sink deeper and deeper this season as positive results are still not coming their way with just over five games to go.

While Amakhosi were optimistic that they could fight and finish second on the log after 30 games, it appears they should be more worried about finishing outside the top right bracket.

As things stand, Chiefs are placed 10th on the log with just 30 points; a position they wouldn’t have dreamed of when the season started.

And when fans realised that things were going south under the leadership of Molefi Ntseki, they pushed the Chiefs hierarchy for change.

Ntseki had been in charge of nine league games when he was eventually shown the exit door at Chiefs.

Now, the silence of those Chiefs fans who wanted change and those who campaigned for Johnson is deafening even though the state of the club is still the same.

However, the club, through sporting director Kaizer Motaung Jr, has already confirmed that a new coach will definitely be appointed ahead of next season.

Now, The South African takes a look at how bad things have been at Chiefs by looking at the records of both Johnson and Ntseki.

KAIZER CHIEFS CRISIS: JOHNSON VS NTSEKI

Ntseki had been brought in to replace Arthur Zwane and try to steer the sinking Chiefs ship in the right direction.

He kept Zwane and Dillon Sheppard on his technical team as his assistants, but he only lasted for 13 games in all competitions.

And that’s nine league games, three MTN8 matches and a single Carling Knockout Cup appearance as Chiefs head coach.

Ntseki won four, drew three and lost six of the 13 games. In the league, he won three, drew two and lost four before he was shown the exit door.

Meanwhile, Johnson has been in charge of 16 games across all competitions since his appointment as interim Chiefs coach.

And that’s 15 league games and a single Nedbank Cup appearance, where Chiefs lost to minnows Milford FC from the Motsepe Foundation Championship.

The 65-year-old mentor won five, drew four and lost seven of those matches. In the league, he has won five, drawn four and lost six.

This means he has won Chiefs just 19 points since taking over from Ntseki, who left having collected just 11 points for the club.

What’s also concerning about Chiefs is their goal difference – they have scored (19) as many as they have conceded (19).
