Back in April it was dramatically confirmed that Stuart Baxter – who was in his second stint with Kaizer Chiefs – had been officially shown the door by Amakhosi.

Kaizer Chiefs had crashed out of the Nedbank Cup and underperformed in the DStv Premiership to be left stranded in fifth position when Baxter was let go. It all stood in stark contrast to his first stint with the team between 2012 and 2015, which included four trophies and two league titles.

Baxter has been without a frontline job since then, although he was linked to Zambia’s national team and the Simba job in Tanzania at various stages earlier this year. However, it ultimately amounted to little more than rumours.

Other talk had linked him to a return to the PSL at times this year, but the experienced coach has always insisted he would not be rushing into any new role unless it was a good fit.

Baxter has now been announced as the Technical Advisor for Helsingborgs IF – the club he won the Swedish Cup with when he was serving in a key role in 2006.

“Stuart Baxter becomes the new technical advisor for Helsingborgs IF,” Swedish outlet DPlus Sport stated

“With his great experience and HIF heart, he will help us on the journey towards the sporting results we want to achieve and the association we want to be,” Helsingborgs Sporting Director, Andreas Granqvist was also quoted as saying.
