The speculation regarding the veteran hitman’s injury woes comes after sustaining an injury and having to go under the knife while still on Chiefs’ books back in 2021.

Nurkovic had to undergo surgery to repair a damaged cartilage in his right knee, and the setback saw him missing 14 league matches in the 2021/22 DStv Premiership campaign.

Resulting from his injury woes, Chiefs opted against retaining him, they parted ways in July last year before joining Royal AM whom he dragged to FIFA for unfair treatment.

“The Cape Town City deal is dead because we couldn’t find an agreement. It’s unfortunate because initially it looked like he was going to sign but we ended up not finding each other. At the moment we have nothing on the table [referring to new offers],” Simac told Sowetan.

The seasoned player agent has since vehemently denied that his client has an injury problem, saying ‘Kokota’ is ready and fit as a fiddle.

He said he is baffled as to why so many DStv Premiership clubs are reluctant to hand the lanky forward a deal as he remains a free agent.

“I know there have been reports that Samir has a niggling injury from a long time ago and that’s not true,” added Simac.

Meanwhile, the South African reported that Royal AM have been handed a heavy transfer ban by FIFA for refusing to pay Nurkovic an amount reported to be R12 million.

Controversial businesswoman, Shauwn Mkhize’s club signed Nurkovic on a free transfer in July 2022 but they abruptly terminated his contract three months into it.

Nurkovic had signed a two-year deal with Royal AM but upon terminating it, the player approached FIFA for intervention.
