Harry Maguire is confident that the atmosphere at Old Trafford for England’s Euro 2024 qualifier against North Macedonia on Monday will be ‘great’.

The Three Lions return to the home of Manchester United for the first time since 2007, with Gareth Southgate’s side looking to maintain a 100 per cent record in qualifying.

Kick-off at the Theatre of Dreams on Monday evening with North Macedonia being the opposition.

Speaking about the prospect of representing his country at the ‘best stadium about’, Maguire is expecting yet another electric atmosphere.

“It [will] be amazing,” said Maguire. “I was really pleased when I saw the game was at Old Trafford.

“It’s amazing that all the England lads get the opportunity to come and play there as the home stadium because for me it’s the best stadium about, said the Man Utd captain.

“I’m sure it’ll be another great atmosphere.”

Maguire played the full 90 minutes for Southgate’s side in Malta on Friday, as the Three Lions won 4-0.

Man United captain has performed well for England

United boss Erik ten Hag has opened the door for the defender to leave if he feels like he needs to get gametime. His contract runs until 2025 but could be loaned out for the 2023/24 season should a permanent move fail to materialise.

Maguire arrived at Old Trafford back in 2019 from Leicester for £80m, which is still a world-record fee for a defender but has failed to live up to his price tag.
