A finish inside this season’s Premier League top four seems like a stretch for Chelsea. As such, they’ve gone and done plenty of business ahead of time. They might well be preparing for not being in the UCL next season. By the end of this campaign, they might well have struggled to lure top players to London without the promise of Champions League football but they circumvented that issue. They’ve aLao assembled a seriously talented young squad, mostly on long-term contracts, and brimming with quality.
Still, Graham Potter must gel this squad and turn their results around. The Blues have won just one of their last six matches across all competitions, and currently lie 10th in the Premier League.
Their next challenge is against West London rivals Fulham on Friday night. The Cottagers beat them just two weeks ago. We could see a debut for British record signing Enzo Fernández wearing Chelsea’s number 5 jersey.
