Former Orlando Pirates striker Lyle Foster made his Premier League debut for Burnley against champions Man City. It was an impressive showing for the Bafana Bafana man, here are the stats to prove it.

Foster was industrious in his work against Pep Guardiola’s champions. He completed two tackles, made five ball recoveries and won five duels. He also completed 20 passes, the most out of any Burnley player on the night. In the final third, the 22-year-old produced arguably the Claret’s best attacking moment of the first half, beating a few men and curling his shot just wide of Ederson’s post. Foster is the 15th South African to play in the Premier League and the first since Percy Tau since 2021. Burnley and Foster must wait until 27 August for their next top-flight encounter, against Aston Villa.
