Chiefs youngster to join senior pre-season training

Puso Dithejane is looking likely to get his chance at mixing it with the best at Kaizer Chiefs this season, at least for pre-season anyway.

Interestingly, according to the latest issue of Soccer Laduma, Chiefs could be preparing to promote another talented youngster to the first team, namely Puso Dithejane, with the 19-year-old having caught the eye during his time at the academy.

Puso Dithejane headed for Chiefs first team

“He is a talented young man (Dithejane). And at 19, the team feels he is well ready for the senior team,” a source was quoted as saying. “But what they will do so that he continues to enjoy game time is that he will be eligible to play for both the Diski team and the senior team.

“They say if he doesn’t feature for the senior team then the Diski team can give him a chance. But training and all the other team activities will be with the senior team.

Chance to impress

“He will be promoted, though he will also play with the junior side. He will join the team for pre-season as well.”

As the DStv Diski Challenge has gone on, one player who has regularly caught the eye is Mfundo Vilakazi, who has long been touted as a future star for Kaizer Chiefs.

In addition, SA age-group international Vicky Mkhawana has been widely praised for his prodigious talents, with the teenager having scored three goals in four games during the U17 AFCON tournament in April.

It now appears that the three youngsters are in line for ‘promotion’ to the senior setup, with popular online publication Unplayable stating that Mkhawana has signed a three-year deal.
