Al Ahly coach Pitso Mosimane says his side’s CAF Champions League quarter-final is far from over despite taking a 2-0 lead into the second leg away from home against former side Mamelodi Sundowns.

Taher Mohamed and Salah Mohsen scored the two goals in the first leg at the Al-Salam Stadium in Cairo last Saturday to give the Egyptian giants a handy advantage.

As he prepares his side to make the trip to South Africa, Mosimane has insisted that Mamelodi Sundowns are still the favourites to progress.

He said according to Kickoff: “They are favourites to win the Champions League because of the way they play, it was difficult for us in the second half but we needed patience and play smart, if you’re too emotional playing at home, they will hurt you.

“They play pretty football that beautiful to watch but football is about results, it’s about the goals, we got the goals and that’s what we needed, to go through [to the semi-finals] you need to score goals.”

“I’ll never ever say we’re qualified [already], I’m a professional in my space and I’m never gonna get excited, I’ve been around for 20 years. I’ve seen the biggest turnarounds.”

Kick-off on Saturday, 22 May is scheduled for 15:00.
