Percy Tau creates CAF Champions League history with Al Ahly!

Percy Tau’s Al Ahly faced-off with Wydad Casablanca in the CAF Champions League final second leg on Sunday night.

Al Ahly won the first leg 2-1 at home while the second leg ended in a 1-1 draw meaning the Egyptians claimed a 3-2 victory on aggregate!

The victory meant Al Ahly star Percy Tau created a unique piece of South African history!

Tau becomes the first South African player to win two CAF Champions League titles!

Percy Tau creates CAF Champions League history

The Bafana Bafana star won his second CAF Champions League title on Sunday evening.

He first won Africa’s elite club competition in 2016 with Mamelodi Sundowns.

And now, seven years later, Percy Tau lifted the title with Al Ahly, a feat no other South African footballer has managed!

Al Ahly legend lauds South African star

“Continuity of Percy Tau playing and maintaining his physical fitness and avoiding injuries made him perform at this level.” Al Ahly legend Emad Meteb told KingFut.

“Tau is currently in full fitness and full artistic performance. He scored two goals today and played an important role on the field.

“These are advantages that should be credited to the coach who dealt with him well and with all the players.

“The current generation has the ability to achieve what happened in 2005 and 2006, 2007 and 2008, four consecutive finals Al Ahly won three of them, and I hope that the team wins this year.”
