Versatile Mamelodi Sundowns star Grant Kekana shares what the demanding technical team and coaches led by Rulani Mokwena expect from the players.

Kekana says every player is expected to give 100% in training and during matches by the demanding technical staff.

The former SuperSport United defender has proven himself to be a trusted servant of Sundowns as he can play as a full back and in the heart of the defence.

Kekana’s insights come ahead of the eagerly awaited African Football League final against Wydad Casablanca on Sunday.

As Sundowns suffered a 2-1 defeat in Casablanca, they will now look to overturn the scoreline and are banking on the crucial away goal.

“Yes, definitely there’s been a whole lot of adjustments because everything about Sundowns is demanding,” Kekana saiys per Phakaaathi.

“From training, they demand 100% and during the game, they demand the same because the competition is very healthy but strong as well.

“So you have to be on top of your game, you also have to do a bit of extra work as an individual besides the training that we get from the team so that you stay in shape and not fall behind.”

KEKANA PRAISES SUNDOWNS TEAMMATES DESPITE LOSS TO WYDAD

Reflecting on the hard-fought first leg of the final away in North Africa against Wydad, the former University of Pretoria defender praises his teammates.

He reaffirms their love for the club and adds that their mission is to add to Sundowns’ success and winning the inaugural AFL is their priority.

“We always want to contribute to the team’s success and it hurt us that we were not able to partake in the Galaxy game,” Kekana reflects.

“But we were able to watch, I think the game had just started when we landed in Angola from Ivory Coast. We were able to watch the rest of the game, I think from the 20th minute up until the end.

“It showed the character we have in the team after going two goals down and one man down, we forced the game into penalties.

“It just shows the resilience in the team, the will to win, the never-say-die attitude, and the mentality we are going to need for the remainder of the season in order to achieve all that we’ve set out to achieve.”

Meanwhile, Masandawana could be boosted by the return of strikers Peter Shalulile and Lucas Ribeiro for the tie slated for Loftus Versfeld Stadium this Sunday.
