Ronwen Williams stole the spotlight once again with a sensational save against Meschack Elia to secure the bronze for Bafana.

Ronwen Williams was on top form once again as Bafana Bafana defeated DR Congo 6-5 on penalties to bag the African Cup of Nations(Afcon) bronze medal on Saturday night.

Both teams failed to find the back of the net after 90 minutes and the match headed straight into penalties where Williams once again was the star of the show.

The 32-year-old saved Meshack Elia’s sudden death penalty to guide Bafana Bafana to a third-place finish.

His heroics at the tournament has gained praise from many fans and he is regarded as one of the tournament’s best players.

Williams is a favourite to win the Golden Glove alongside Nigeria’s Stanley Nwabali, who only conceded two goals so far in the tournament. The Chippa United keeper made two fine saves during a penalty shootout with Bafana to guide the Super Eagles to their first Afcon final in 10 years.

Williams has kept five cleansheet at the Afcon and made crucial saves to keep Bafana in the tournament. His contributions throughout the competition solidified his status as a key figure for South Africa.
