Ronwen Williams sets new Afcon record for Bafana Bafana
Bafana Bafana captain Ronwen Williams has set a new Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) for South Africa following Saturday’s win over DRC.

Bafana Bafana captain Ronwen Williams has set a new Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) for South Africa following Saturday’s win over DRC.
Bafana Bafana and DRC played to a 0-0 draw after 90 minutes, before Hugo Broos’ men won 6-5 penalties to finish third at the tournament.
This meant Williams kept five clean sheets at this Afcon; the most by any Bafana Bafana goalkeeper at a single Afcon tournament.
RONWEN WILLIAMS SETS NEW BAFANA BAFANA RECORD
In doing so, Williams surpassed a record previously held and set by Andre Arendse at the 1996 Afcon in South Africa.
At the time, Arendse kept four clean sheets as Bafana Bafana went on to lift the trophy after beating Tunisia 2-0 in the final.
