Ronwen Williams heroics save Bafana against brave Cape Verde

Ronwen Williams made four penalty saves against Cape Verde to help Bafana Bafana qualify for the Afcon semi-finals.

Ronwen Williams made four penalty saves against Cape Verde to guide Bafana Bafana to the last four of the African Cup of Nations.

Both sides failed to score after 120 minutes and penalties were needed to decide which team would face Nigeria in the semi-finals.

Both teams had chances to win it in the 90 minutes but poor finishing let them down.

The Blue Sharks had a chance to grab the winner in injury-time but Ronwen Williams pulled a fantastic stop to keep Bafana in the competition.

Despite both coaches making several changes in extra-time, not much action was seen and the match was decided on penalties.

Cape Verde missed their penalties while Teboho Mokoena scored to give Bafana an advantage. Two more saves from the Mamelodi Sundowns keeper gave Hugo Broos’ men an advantage throughout despite Zakhele Lepasa and Aubrey Modiba missing their kicks.

Int the end, Bafana won 2-1 on penalties and Ronwen Williams was the hero.
