When will the Nigeria vs South Africa Afcon showdown take place? All the broadcast details have been revealed.

Nigeria will face South Africa at Bouaké’s Stade de la Paix in the semi-finals of the Africa Cup of Nations competition on Wednesday 7 February 2024.

When is Nigeria vs South Africa?

Kick-off will be at 17:00 local time, that is 19:00 in South Africa and 18:00 in Nigeria on Wednesday.

The match will be broadcast on SABC Sport and SABC One in South Africa. In Nigeria the local broadcaster is AfroSport.

Other global broadcasters include beIN Sport, which will show the tournament in the Middle East and North Africa region, as well as France and the United States; CANAL+, which will show the event in French in Sub-Saharan Africa; GTV in Ghana; Supersport in Southern Africa; ZIGGO Sport in the Netherlands; Sky Sports in the United Kingdom and Ireland; and the CAF’s own media channels, which will show games in some countries.

Nigeria call for South Africa showdown

Stanley Nwabali, who turns out for Chippa United in the PSL, wass keen on a Nigeria vs South Africa face-off in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations semi-final before it was booked.

 “Both Cape Verde and South Africa are good teams, but I want to play against South Africa,” Nwabali told reporters.

 “I really wish to see how my defence will fare against them.

 “Yes, most of their players know me, and I also know them.”

Bafana’s poor record of grounding Super Eagles

Nigeria vs South Africa has been a fixture dominated by the former.

South Africa have won just two of 14 internationals against Nigeria, suffering seven defeats with five draws also contested.

However, South Africa’s last win over Nigeria came in the 2017 Afcon tournament when they triumphed 2-0. 

Tokelo Rantie and Percy Tau were the scorers the last time South Africa beat Nigeria.

Current South Africa squad member, Themba Zwane also played in that Nigeria vs South Africa fixture.
