In the lead up to the friendly match against Namibia on Saturday, it was whispered that the squad was due to boycott the match after the South African Football Association (SAFA) reportedly failed to pay bonuses for the Morocco match in June.

According to one of the leading reporters in the country, Velile Mnyandu of SABC Sport, the matter has been resolved and the match will proceed as planned.

Additionally, Mnyandu further revealed that Bafana players earn R60 000 for wins, and R30 000 for draws.

“A looming strike in the Bafana Bafana camp over unpaid match bonuses that threatened even the boycott of Saturday’s international friendly match against Namibia has been averted,” the report said.

“SABC Sport has learnt that the South African Football Association (SAFA) was forced to pay the outstanding match-winning bonuses today to avoid the boycott and players coming out to speak on these matters.

“Bafana players get paid R60 000 for a win and R30 000 for a draw, this is for both international friendly and official matches,” Mnyandu added.

The game will kick off at 15:00, while Tuesday’s game against DR Congo will be played at 17:00 at the same venue.
