71-year-old Bafana Bafana coach Hugo Broos speaks about retirement and the Belgian mentor states that he enjoys his job.

Broos guided Bafana to the semi-finals of the premier continental competition and a win over Nigeria will see the former African champions reaching the final.

The former Cameroon coach, Broos speaks about retirement and denies he will stop coaching after the Afcon tournament, saying he still enjoys his Bafana job.

Just before the Afcon tournament in Ivory Coast, Broos dropped a hint to Belgian media regarding the Bafana job implying he is considering retirement following an illustrious career that spans over five decades.

A former Afcon winner with the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon in 2017 under heavy criticism, Bafana coach Broos is not considering retirement – he speaks.

“Not at all, why should I think of that [retirement], we’re still not at the end, I said… okay I’m 71, so I think there are moments to think about stopping my career,” Bafana coach Broos speaks about retirement.

“As long as things are going the way it is now, why should I stop? I like my job, I like football, so we will see what the future will bring.

“But I think it’s totally normal that after a career of 36 years as a coach and 18 years as a professional footballer player, that little by little you start thinking about the end of your career, but it’s nothing more than that – nothing more.”

COACH BROOS ON BAFANA FACING NIGERIA

In a similar post, The South African reported that Broos will pin his hopes on his skipper and keeper, Ronwen Williams to be on top of his game versus Nigeria as he saved four penalties for Bafana against Cape Verde.

“I think Nigeria is a team that has become better and better [throughout the competition] when I saw them [against Angola] I saw a very good team, with a very good striker, a few good players,” Bafana boss Broos said about a special Nigeria thriller.

 “(Ademola) Lookman, the one who scored the goal, very good player, so we have to analyse a bit more because we didn’t have the time [before the quarter-final].”

The 1996 African champions, Bafana will meet the Super Eagles in what is seen as a grudge match at the iconic Stade Bouake on Wednesday evening, at 19h00.
