Kaizer Chiefs stopper Bruce Bvuma is the only player in the Bafana Bafana squad, coach Hugo Broos explains, including him.

Broos named his 23-man squad to face Algeria and Andorra in the upcoming friendlies this month; Bvuma is part of the team.

The Belgian mentor, Broos, explains AmaZulu keeper Veli Mothwa’s snubbing, whose place is taken by Bvuma.

He gives more details on why ex-Chiefs defender Siyabonga Ngezana is part of the squad, as he is based in Romania.

The coach who guided Bafana to third place at the recent Afcon has up 10 new faces in his Bafana squad.

BAFANA BOSS ON WHY HE INCLUDED KAIZER CHIEFS KEEPER BVUMA

Bruce is the number one stopper for Chiefs owing to Itumeleng Khune’s recent suspension and Brandon Petersen seemingly struggling.

“Veli didn’t even play so much before AFCON and now he played the last game, but the rest of the games with AmaZulu, he was on the bench,” says Broos per SABC1.

“So he’s also a certain age. So we have to look also for a younger keeper for the next years.

“And it becomes a good opportunity now to call Bruce.

“Bruce was with us from the beginning I was here.

“And then as a result of the team, he didn’t play anymore for Chiefs, and now he played all the game for Chiefs.

“So I think he deserves a chance.”

BAFANA’S BROOS ON CHIEFS DEFENDER AND STOPPER’S FORM

The former Chiefs defender, Ngezana is enjoying good, and Broos says he nearly included him in his AFCON squad.

The Bafana mentor, Broos, also adds that the FCSB defender is the one for the future because of his age.

“Ngezana was for us a point of discussion for AFCON,” adds the Bafana coach, Broos.

“We didn’t know very well, do we have to take him with us or not because he was playing very good Romania.

“But he was never with us. And therefore, I didn’t want to change for AFCON.

“But again, he’s playing very good in Romania.

“And I think if Ngezana can have the same level he has with his club in Romania.

“Okay, then we are settled again for the next years.”
