Fans blast bullied Bafana Bafana
Bafana Bafana are copping widespread criticism following their shock defeat to Mali at the Africa Cup of Nations.

Bafana Bafana are under increased pressure from their passionate supporters after they slumped to a 2-0 loss against Mali in their opening match at AFCON 2024.

Bafana were made to rue Percy Tau’s missed penalty as Mali absorbed all of the pressure South Africa exerted before mounting a strategically well-executed second half display which resulted in two goals to secure an epic victory.
The performance as well as the result didn’t sit well with Bafana’s supporters, who took to social media to voice their frustration at a team that boasts so much promise but delivers so little.

SOUTH AFRICAN TWITTER EXPLODES WITH BAFANA
One user said: “Go to church on Sunday and pray for Bafana. We need miracles in this team.”
Another took a more direct approach: ““Why don’t you support Bafana the same way you support the Springboks”…. This should answer that stupid question.”
And there were several other tweets comparing the fans’ support of the national rugby and soccer teams: “After this y’all must NEVER ask us why we don’t support Bafana as much as the Springboks.”
“Konje you said we must support Bafana like the Springboks but look at what they are showing us.”
“If Bafana lose tonight I’m gonna start bookmarking all the tweets saying we must support them like the Springboks I’ve already cooked the Chokers known as the Proteas. It’s January but it’s time for that Bafana pack.”
“On brand. There are people who actually wanted us to give these useless bunch of losers the same support we gave the Springboks.”

Some went as far as pleading with the Springboks to import Handre Pollard for penalty kicks after Percy Tau’s miss.
“Handre Pollard, is needed on penalty duty for Bafana. How quick can he fly out to Cote d’lvoire? @Springboks.”
“Send the Springboks boys to play the next Bafana game.”
“Bafana; you’ve seen the presentations by South Africa’s legal team before the ICJ. You’ve seen the Springboks at The World Cup. You’ve seen Tyla. Phakamani manje!!! Ixesha lifikile!”
One user pointed out that the playing for the national soccer team and the national rugby team is not level.
“Castle Lager is the official partner/sponsor of Bafana but I’m yet to see a single TV ad or billboard from them in support of the team yet they went all out for Boks and even dropped a special Springboks fan jersey and had promo competitions. What a joke.”
