Ever since Bafana Bafana finished third at the Afcon tournament, there have been question marks over whether Hugo Broos would remain with the national side or perhaps consider other options.

SAFA president Danny Jordaan has made it clear that they want to fully back the veteran coach to continue building on what he has started, but Broos admitted certain conditions would need to be met.

Broos has admitted that he did receive interest from several other teams after Afcon, but he has now made a big call.

“I told the president that I’ll stay in South Africa and I’ll stay in South Africa,” he said on SABC after unveiling the latest Bafana squad. “I don’t see me changing again, building again. I have something here, I know what I have here. I love the live here.

“Why should I go on another adventure? I love everything except some things, but it can’t be perfect…. AFCON is done, I had a very good meeting with Mr. Jordaan and the problems are solved. I hope now that I’ll get a little more credit by some people here in this country.”

Hugo Broos was considering walking away from Bafana Bafana after the recent continental tournament

The Belgian coach admitted he had been ready to quit due to several factors, but added that these had now been resolved.

“First of all my family, I was always two months, two-and-a-half months here without them and it was heavy in the end. So that had to change and it will change.

“I had a meeting with the president Mr. Jordaan and we talked about it and he understood it. He said ‘ok, there is no problem, if you want to go home and see your family, go take the flight’.

“But there is also the bad relationship with PSL. Also there, if everything goes ok I will meet the chairman of the PSL, Mr. Khoza and I will talk to him. I can express my ideas about some things and I hope he understands me.”
