Bafana Bafana’s win against Morocco shouldn’t be celebrated much as it was more like a friendly match.

We all know how Bafana play in friendly games.

Hugo Broos’side retained their unbeaten run after defeating FIFA World Cup semi-finalists Morocco 2-1 at the FNB Stadium on Saturday night.

Both teams had already qualified for the tournament which takes place in Ivory Coast next year.

Hugo Broos’ charges took the game seriously and tamed the Atlas Lions for most of the game.

Bafana are now unbeaten in seven matches and they made their intentions clear very early in the game after racing to a 5th minute lead through Percy Tau.

The home side could have increased the lead on several occasions in the first half but had to settle for a 1-0 lead at halftime.

They returned with added urgency in the second period and it was no surprise when Zakhele Lepasa beat Morocco goalkeeper Monir Kajoui to double the lead from close range in the 48th minute. But the North Africans pulled a goal back through Hakim Ziyech in the 60th minute to ensure a thrilling final 30 minutes of the match.

The South African senior national team could have found the back of the net on a number of occasions in the second half but eventually settled for the 2-1 win.

Bafana Bafana’s winning run began in September last year when Broos’ charges beat Sierra Leone and Botswana in two friendlies at FNB Stadium. They would retain their unbeaten run in games against Mozambique (win), Angola (draw),  Liberia (draw and a win) and now Morocco (win).

The win against Morocco sure build confidence in Broos’team going forward but Morocco were not at their best.

Since reaching the semis last year, the North African giants have been poor drawing with Cape Verde last week.
