Bafana Bafana latest: Pitso Mosimane says NO thanks to desperate SAFA

Pitso Mosimane has informed Al Ahly president Mahmoud El-Khatib that he will reject the SAFA’s advances for him to take over as Bafana Bafana coach.

Pitso Mosimane has informed Al Ahly president Mahmoud El-Khatib that he will reject the desperate advances of the South African Football Association (SAFA) for him to take over as Bafana Bafana coach, according to reports in Egypt.

Mosimane has been identified as the No 1 target to succeed Molefi Nteski as Bafana Bafana coach after their plan to lure Carlos Quieroz back for a second stint blew up spectacularly in their face.

Minister of Sport Nathi Mthethwa reportedly made contact with Mosimane last week and SAFA reached out again on Tuesday in an attempt to convince him to accept the role.

However, Yallakora has suggested that Mosimane reiterated his desire to see out his contract with the reigning Egyptian Premier League champions which expires at the end of next season.

“Mosimane spoke of the administration’s strong belief to him and there is a state of mutual appreciation between both parties. He appreciates that he has a project which he still needs to complete,” the website stated.

The source went on to add that Mosimane handed in a list of transfer targets for next season which further confirmed his commitment to remain at the Egyptians giants.

SAFA is in a desperate state at present with no coach only five weeks ahead of their next assignment, qualifiers for the 2022 Soccer World Cup which kick off against neighbours Zimbabwe in the first week in June.

SAFA had promised to announce the next coach last Saturday, but that didn’t happen as they blamed “global Covid-19 travel issues” for not doing so – even though they didn’t have a coach to name in the first place!
