Are SAFA looking to bring ex-Chiefs coach Ntseki back to Bafana?

According to reports, former Kaizer Chiefs coach Molefi Ntseki could find himself back at Bafana Bafana very soon.

Former Kaizer Chiefs head coach Molefi Ntseki could return to the South African Football Association (Safa) according to reports.

Ntseko, who was fired from his Chiefs post in October, has not been employed elsewhere and according to iDiski Times, the former Bafana Bafana coach could return to the national junior team.

Following the resignation of former U/23 coach David Notoan, Safa are looking for a new experienced coach for the national U/23 team and also an assistant that can help Hugo Broos and Helman Mkhalele.

Ntseki’s return to Bafana very possible

The association are considering Ntseki, who coached the U/17s and also the senior national team. With Bafana Bafana, the 54-year-old failed to guide them to the 2021 African Cup of Nations after losing to Sudan 2-0.

He was then fired by Safa and a few later, he was appointed as Chiefs Head of Technical and Youth Development Academy in May 2021.

In 2023, Ntseki was promoted to head coach of Kaizer Chiefs after Arthur Zwane was demoted however he only lasted just four months before the Amakhosi management gave him the boot after a poor start to the season.

Speaking fot the first time since leaving the Soweto giants, Ntseki admitted that he did not expect to be named new Chiefs head coach.

“As much as I did not see it coming, as much as it was announced in a very short period of time before we left for the pre-season I took it upon myself to say ‘let me do my best because they believe in me’,” he said.
