The Africa Super League is set to get underway in August 2023, and there is already excitement around it across the continent.
However, the only disappointment for African football fans could be reports that CAF has decided to decrease the number of teams that will form part of this year’s competition.
According to iDiski Times, CAF has decided to go with eight teams from across Africa and NOT 24 as previously pronounced.
Reasons for the decision are unknown at this stage but a number of teams, including Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates are reportedly not going to feature this year.
The only South African club that is reported to be there is Mamelodi Sundowns who have dominated the PSL over the last six seasons.
