Soccer fan shares incredible story of his time with Adam Lallana in Cape Town

Adam Lallana will be known as much more than just a Liverpool soccer star after this story went viral. What an absolute champion.

Adam Lallana

Liverpool star and England International Adam Lallana doesn’t always receive as much hype and praise as he should do. The football player is currently looking to recover from his latest injury setback ahead of the World Cup in June. What better place to recover than Cape Town?

Ashwin Johri is a football fan through and through and also happened to be in Cape Town. While staying at the same hotel as Lallana, one would expect a Premier League star to be in and out with his entourage and maybe sign a couple of autographs on his way in?

Not Adam Lallana, mate. With him, you get the full friendly experience.

After noticing Lallana a day prior, Jhori decided to approach the midfielder one morning before his breakfast arrived. He jokingly asked if he could buy him a beer later in the day and, well, the Liverpool player was surprisingly forthcoming.

“Now, I’ll be honest, I didn’t expect him to come through. Obviously. We exchanged numbers and he asked me to get in touch once I returned from my day out.”

Jhori did eventually drop him a message and went down to the bar to wait, still not expecting Lallana to show up.

“And he DOES turn up. We had a drink each and spoke for a good half hour. He even welcomed the idea of FaceTiming a friend of mine, who’s a massive Liverpool fan. After that, he took his leave. As he was leaving, he said he’ll get in touch.”

For any football fan, this would have been more than enough. A dream come true, something to tell your friends about for the rest of your life. But, wait, Mr Lallana was not done.

The former Southampton star called up Jhori after dinner time and invited him to hang out with his friends too.

“But what do you know, we meet up again after dinner and this time it’s with friends. The 10 of us hung out decently late into the night, talking football, travel, TV shows, a bit of politics, and your usual fluff.”

In his Instagram post, Jhori went on to say call Lallana a “class act” who “by no means craves the spotlight” and is happy to let others do the talking.

“Inviting a stranger to join him and his friends, after only spending a brief amount of time with them, tells you all you need to know about him.”

No matter who you support guys, this was an absolute class act from Adam Lallana. What an evening that must have been!
