Stormers quell fears over Hacjivah Dayimani exit rumours

Stormers boss John Dobson says only a “compelling argument” would prompt them to agree to release Hacjivah Dayimani prematurely.

Recent reports suggested that Hacjivah Dayimani is ready to jump ship, but the Stormers have now come out and said the versatile loose forward is staying put.

Dayimani is reportedly keen to take up a lucrative contract abroad after receiving offers from Japan and France.

It is believed his sudden desire move overseas stems from his exclusion from the recent Springbok alignment camp in Cape Town.

But Dayimani would need the Stormers to green light his plans because his current contract with Western Province Rugby only expires in June 2025 and any early release would need to be a mutual decision.

When asked if the Stormers would help Dayimani facilitate such a move, Dobson said that it’s highly unlikely they’ll allow their star loose forward to leave before the end of his contract.

“He is under contract here until the end of June 2025,” offered the Stormers boss.

“So he has the rest of this season and next season under contract here. So I can’t see us…it would have to be a really compelling argument to release Hacjivah, the way he has played this season.

“I am not sure where that comes from.”
