Having gone down in Glasgow from the last play of the match and left with another bonus point on the road, head coach John Dobson has challenged the team to manage the game more effectively to get over the line overseas.

Dobson said that his team’s inability to exit was the most disappointing aspect of their performance against Glasgow, who have now won six consecutive games and 10 consecutive at home at Scotstoun Stadium. The Stormers boss refused to blame conditions, which got pretty difficult towards the end of the game.

“It’s not condition dependent, we failed to exit but stuck to the way we wanted to play on attack,” Dobson said.

“If we want to compete properly in this competition we have to win these games.

“We have to close out these games, every time we come here we take losing bonus points but we are not good at closing them out in these conditions, which is something we have to learn,” he added.

Dobson said that his team could have made far better use of their attacking opportunities and gave credit to Glasgow for getting around their defensive system.

“We had plenty of opportunities to attack just outside the 22 and we couldn’t use them, so that wasn’t good enough. They knew we were going to come with our linespeed and they got around us.

“It was just a really bad day at the office against a team that’s really on a roll,” Dobson concluded.
