The Bulls have been blocked from picking loose forward Marcell Coetzee for their URC quarter-final showdown against the Stormers in Cape Town on Saturday.

WHY MARCELL COETZEE CAN’T PLAY

This is according to a report on the SuperSport.com website.

Coetzee only recently came back to South Africa after a six-month stint in Japan where he played for the Kobelco Kobe Steelers in Top League and Jake White was keen to fast-track him into the team for the playoff against their bitter rivals.

But the Bulls team captain had reportedly been deregistered from their squad despite having played the prerequisite seven games earlier in the season which the Pretorians thought would make him eligible for selection.

The website reports that the Bulls had tried to get Coetzee re-registered, but failed in their quest because the URC competition guidelines state that a player cannot be re-registered at this stage of the season.
