Dyantyi recently signed a two-year deal with the Sharks, with both parties confirming what had seemed to be an open secret.

Dyantyi enjoyed one of the most meteoric rises in the sport, having come up the ranks of the University of Johannesburg rugby system. From Res rugby to Varsity rugby, before getting himself into the professional structures of the Lions. Things happened so quickly for the Qonce-born flyer, that the year of his Super Rugby debut, 2018 coincided with the year of Springbok debut and the year he would win the World Rugby Breakthrough Player of the Year.

The next year would prove to be a tumultuous one for Dyantyi, however, as injuries derailed him and when he did come back for the Lions, he had looked a shadow of his former self. That would eventually cost him his place in the Springbok, although he would make one of the alignment camps that year. All hope of a place in the 2019 Rugby World Cup squad were extinguished when he got charged for having multiple banned substances found in his body.

In the end, Dyantyi had to sit out four-years with the ban, also subsequently ending his time at the Lions. He has since been picked up by the Sharks, where he has been hard at work trying to gain match fitness during pre-season. That seems to have been rewarded, as he is now inline to make his debut for the Durban-based outfit.
