French Top 14 side Racing 92 have wasted very little time in welcoming their marquee signing in Springbok captain Siya Kolisi

It has barely been a fortnight since Kolisi lifted the William Webb Ellis trophy back to back, under the night skies of Paris, and he has already returned to joined new side Racing 92.

Kolisi concluded his move to Racing 92 as early as January, after he was granted an early release from his contract at the Sharks. The loose forward put pen to paper with the Durban franchise in February 2021, in a deal that was termed as a ‘multi-year’ deal, by their official website. He would spend just two seasons with them, however, earning the captains armband in the process during his last season.

His stay at the Sharks was not necessarily one for the books, as it was marred with injuries and the inevitable Springbok duties. Kolisi did manage to lead the side to two United Rugby Championship quarterfinals and that, however, would be as good as it got for him in a black and white jersey. His last game for the side would also happen to be one to forget, as he was forced off at Kings Park with a knee injury that threatened his 2023 Rugby World Cup participation. He did manage to recover in time for the World Cup, however, having missed the entire shortened Rugby Championships campaign. Kolisi would then go on to add to and further cement his legacy after becoming the first Springbok captain to win the World Cup twice. Now with the week-long celebrations now done and dusted in South Africa, the Zwide-born star is now set to return to action, and it will be in a city he has fond memories of, and in the colours of Racing 92.
