Wing Canan Moodie is confident that the Springboks are on the right track with one warm-up game — against the All blacks — remaining before launching their Rugby World Cup title defence.

THE SPRINGBOK LOWDOWN

The Springboks, often mocked for their lack of style and finesse, delivered an all-round sparkling performance against Wales at the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff on Saturday, outscoring the hosts by eight tries to one for a comprehensive 52-16 victory.

The South Africans will wrap up their warm-up match schedule on Friday against the All Blacks in the once-off Qatar Cup showdown at Twickenham before travelling to Corsica for a week-long training camp.

Thereafter, the Springboks will make their way to Toulon where they will be based for the duration of the Rugby World Cup.

YOUNG MOODIE IS HUNGRY FOR MORE ACTION

Moodie, who was named as the official Man of the Match against Wales, said that while he took a lot of confidence from the result against the Welsh, the Springboks should already be focused on their next challenge: the All Blacks.

“I think we can take a lot of confidence from this game,” said Moodie, who scored two tries and was named the Player of the Match afterwards.

“Putting up a record score against Wales at home isn’t something that happens often. It shows that our plans are working and that the guys are ready for what lies ahead mentally and physically.

“That said, there are a few things we can touch up on and we have one more game to do it before the World Cup.”
