An obvious trend has emerged from the Springboks season so far – the goalkicking department needs work.

NIENEBER & RASSIE, PLEASE CHANGE THE SPRINGBOKS GOALKICKER

Dear Nienaber & Rassie, the Springboks desperately need to change goalkickers. Take nothing away from his scintillating attacking play but if the Boks are to defend their trophy they need a goalkicker striking around the 90% mark. This is going to be one of the most tightly contested Rugby World Cup’s of all time with four sides entering as potential favourites in their own right. France, Ireland and New Zealand and the Springboks. Meaning, every point will matter and a missed kick can be the difference between glory and going home. The French have Melvyn Jaminet, NZ have Richie Mo’unga and Beauden Barrett and Ireland have Sexton. Therefore, the Boks need to either give Cheslin Kolbe the kicking tee or Faf de Klerk with Willemse and Libbok struggling.

Pollard is fit and raring to go but we know he is currently on standby. So, in his absence let Kolbe kick as he was brilliant in the French Top 14, slotting kicks (and even a drop goal) from 50m and from the touchline. Please, heed the call.

SA COOKING SOMETHING SPECIAL

The Boks are cooking something special up for the world in France. Their solo loss to NZ (30-15) came with several players playing out of position and many form players either coming off the bench or missing out completely.

Most noticeably, Marx and Libbok were benched while the in-form Kurt-lee Arendse missed out on the 23 altogether. Furthermore, Mostert (flank instead of lock), Willemse (flyhalf instead of fullback). Let us not forget that Siya Kolisi was unavailable due to injury. Under his guidance, South Africa are a different team.

Now, all these men are in form and we have x-factor star Canan Moodie throw into the equation. Therefore, the world should get ready for this side as they go all out to defend their title in France.
