Thankfully, Pollard will finally get some valuable minutes under his belt when we face Tonga on Sunday, 01 October 2023.

This is crucial to his campaign and the Springboks Rugby World Cup chances. Pollard is yet to feature for the Boks this season having missed out due to injury but now he is fit and raring to go. Furthermore, the Springboks woeful goalkicking woes make it clear that they need a world class goalkicker. Rassie confirmed that Pollard will get a run against Tonga as they re-assess their goalkicking options ahead of the quarter-finals.

“Let’s give Handre a chance to find his rhythm and see how he does with the other stuff. Tonga will be a great yardstick to see how he goes,” Rassie told SARugby.

RASSIE IMPRESSED BY LIBBOKS ATTACKING PLAY

Libboks attacking form has impressed Rassie.

“Manie is definitely playing brilliant flyhalf rugby at this stage but obviously his goalkicking isn’t matching that,” he added.

However, his goalkicking concerns have become too big to ignore. Now, Nienaber and Rassie are reassessing their goalkicking options with Pollard’s return against Tonga set to determine the much-needed possible change of kickers.
