Rassie Erasmus is reportedly considering leaving the Springboks amidst reports linking him with a top coaching job in Ireland.

Rassie Erasmus is reportedly considering leaving the Springboks amidst reports linking him with a top coaching job in Ireland.

Last week, surprise rumours doing the rounds stated that Rassie Erasmus has been shortlisted for a top Ireland rugby coaching job.

Now, shock claims have emerged…

RASSIE CONSIDERING LEAVING SPRINGBOKS AND SA RUGBY

SA director of rugby, Rassie, is reportedly considering actually leaving the Springboks.

“Rassie Erasmus is considering leaving the Springboks after being placed on a reported shortlist of candidates for a top job in Irish rugby,” the report read on SARugbyMag.

The SA director of rugby is currently contracted to SA Rugby until 2025.

Furthermore, there is a clause in his contract that could allow him to leave earlier.

Meaning, if Rassie decides to leave after the Rugby World Cup, he could.

The good news is that he has not applied for the job. However, the same report stated that he is open to the potential move.

WHAT ROLE HAS RASSIE BEEN SHORTLISTED FOR?

Rassie has been shortlisted by the IRFU to take over from performance director, David Nucifora.

Moreover, Nucifora last stated that he will be leaving his role in two years time (in October 2022). So, in all likeliness, Rassie will likely stay on with SA Rugby.
