Rassie Erasmus will be appointing two new coaches to join the Springboks. Both men are set to take up vital roles for SA Rugby moving forward.

Rassie Erasmus will be appointing two new coaches to join the Springboks. Both men are set to take up vital roles for SA Rugby moving forward.

Rassie will be appointing two new coaches.

Firstly, a new defence coach since Jacques Nienaber doubled-up as defence coach. Additionally, he will be appointing a new assistant coach since Felix Jones has left to join Steve Borthwick at England.

Both men appointed by Rassie will take up positions of huge importance with some pretty big boots to fill.

Ultimately, the Springboks pride themselves in a resolute and formidable defence.

Under Rassie, the Boks leaked just four tries across their seven matches. Meanwhile, in their recent World Cup title defence, they held Scotland and England try-less and only conceded a try a piece against the likes of Ireland and New Zealand (in the final).

Furthermore, they were heroic in the manner they defended. Putting in a highlight reel worth of big hits in the final to successfully defend their Rugby World Cup title.

Rassie and SA Rugby are expected to replace both men in duo course with the mastermind of world rugby already having compiled a list of candidates.

“Erasmus reportedly already has a list of names that he will present to SA Rugby to replace Jones and Nienaber (defence coach),” The Citizen reported.

NEW ERA BECKONS FOR SA RUGBY

A new coach (or a return for Rassie) and two new technical members will lead the Boks into the next few seasons with expectations sky-high. Whoever is appointed to step up will have to maintain the world class defensive standards set by Rassie, Nienaber and former defensive consultant, Jones.

Duane Vermeulen has been dubbed as a future Boks coach. In fact, he has recently been linked with a player-coach role at the Stormers having retired from international rugby as a Springboks legend.
