The Springboks had to dig deep to retain their World Cup title at the 2023 Rugby World Cup in France and Eben Etzebeth, Makazole Mapimpi, Ox Nche, Grant Williams and Jaden Hendrikse all featured prominently across South Africa’s seven-match campaign.

Upon the Springboks’ arrival home, there was a week of fabulous festivities with the squad going on a trophy tour around the country. That was followed by two solid weeks off for all the home-based Springbok players, to allow them to recuperate after arduous campaign.

But the World Cup party as well as the hangover is now officially a thing of the past, as players return for duty with their teams.

And it’s not a day too soon, as all the South African franchises are struggling in the URC and will be hoping their Springboks can come in and turn their fortunes around in terms of results.

And taking a leaf out of the Bulls’ book, the Sharks have rather excitedly shared the news of their Test stars’ return by posting a picture featuring Etzebeth, Mapimpi, Nche, Williams, Hendrikse and Lukhanyo Am alongside coach John Plumtree and director of rugby Neil Powell.
