Springboks, All Blacks to battle for Qatar Airways Cup at Twickers

The airline giant has come on board as the title sponsor for the once-off spectacle between South Africa and New Zealand in London.

The Springboks and All Blacks usually fight it out for the Freedom Cup during the annual Rugby Championship, but their next showdown will be for a brand new piece of silverware.

One of global rugby’s greatest rivalries, between South Africa and New Zealand, will be reignited at Twickenham in London later this month with the two nations playing for a brand-new trophy, the Qatar Airways Cup, on Friday 25 August.The match – which kicks off at 19h30 (20h30 SA time) – will mark the first clash between the two teams at Twickenham since 2015.

The All Blacks won the most recent clash between the two teams in the Rugby Championship beating the Springboks 35-20 in Auckland. The last time the two teams met at Twickenham, eight years ago, when New Zealand won 20-18.
