Jacques Nienaber and Rassie Erasmus are set to give handle stars rare starts, With the bulk of first-choice players being sent to New Zealand.

RARE STARTS FOR SPRINGBOK FRINGE PLAYERS

Ox Nche, Bongi Mbonambi, RG Snyman, Jean Klein/Marvin Orie, Marco van Staden, Duane Vermeulen, Cobus Reinach/Grant Williams, Manie Libbok, Andre Esterhuizen and Canon Moodie are all set for rare starts in the Boks Rugby Championship opener against Eddie Jones’ Wallabies.

So, Ox is likely to start with Kitshoff the likely man being sent to NZ. Furthermore, the same can be said for Mbonambi with Marx likely jetting off. This is due to Rassie implementing a split-squad strategy. Meaning, several top players will fly to NZ as part to prepare to take on the All Blacks in NZ on 15 July.

We expect RG Snyman to be given a standing ovation as he makes his much-anticipated return to the Boks. While the other lock being handed a rare start is either Marvin Orie or Jean Klein, The latter is now allowed to play for South Africa.

According to SARugbyMag, van Staden, Pieter-Steph du Toit and Duane Vermeulen look set to be the starting back-row at Loftus Versfeld on Saturday.

EXCITING BACKLINE FILLED WITH URC STAND-OUTS

Libbok is likely to start against the Wallabies where he will be partnered by scrumhalf Cobus Reinach at nine. A lot of attention will be on Libbok after he thrilled fans throughout the URC. However, some fans are divided over him after a below-par URC final against Munster in Cape Town.

Speaking of speed, Kurt-lee Arendse and Canon Moodie could both start in front of their home fans. Furthermore, Willie Le Roux is likely to round up an exciting backline. Nienaber and Rassie Erasmus are aiming to ensure a great balance of first-team regulars and exciting fringe players set to take on Australia.
