Rassie can steer Boks to their third successive World Cup title – Former All Blacks player

Rassie Erasmus, who served as SA director of rugby, is set to return as Springboks coach for the second time.

Rassie Erasmus is set to return as coach of the Springboks following Jacques Nienaber’s departure.

After the Boks’ win against New Zealand in the Rugby World Cup final, it was made official that Nienaber would join Irish side Leinster.

Erasmus, who served as SA director of rugby, will return to the role of head coach.

Last month, Springboks became just the second team in history to win consecutive Rugby World Cups following their 12-11 victory over the All Blacks.

The team now has a chance to make it three and with Rassie at the helm, it looks very much likely.

“I just think, man he loves what he does,” he said on the Aotearoa Rugby Pod.

“We’ve spoken at length about how he(Rassie) is his own man and I admire that about him.

“The exciting thing is the story that can be told over the next four years, of him looking to do a three-peat, whether he’s Director of Rugby or whatever, we all know he was a big part of both those World Cup wins and you wouldn’t put it past him.

“If there’s ever a bloke that could probably go three in a row, it would be him,” Parsons said this week.

After successfully defending the Ellis Webb trophy, the Boks will only be in action again next year.
