Eben Etzebeth has gone viral for his starring role in an advert in which he seems to take a dig at the Springboks’ many critics.

Before Eben Etzebeth jetted off on a flight to the Rugby World Cup with the Springboks, he featured in his second acting gig when he appeared in an advert.
A month ago, Etzebeth made his acting debut with a guest appearance on the Afrikaans television drama show Binnelanders. He was cast as himself in the role.

In his latest acting performance, he plays the role of a soft-hearted rugby player, who reads a little girl bedtime story.
The advert starts with a wife asking her husband to put their daughter to bed by reading her a story. He boasts that the task has been taken care off and when they go into the daughter’s room, Etzebeth is sitting reading a story.
The husband explains that it is an ‘Etze-bed-time-story’ – a brilliant pun on the Bok locks’ name.
The advert concludes with Etzebeth saying: “Then they cried for a whole week straight, and we celebrated,” in reference to whenever the media (mostly European) slag off the Springboks in the build-up to a big game and they still manage to win.
