Duane Vermeulen to return to Stormers?

DHL Stormers coach John Dobson hopes to have Vermeulen join the coaching staff in the next couple of weeks.

Springbok legend Duan Vermeulen could return to the Stormers as a coach in the coming weeks.

The 37-year-old recently announced his retirement from the game after helping the Springboks to win back-to-back Rugby World Cup titles.

DHL Stormers coach John Dobson has confirmed that they hope to have Vermeulen join the coaching staff in the next couple of weeks

Vermeulen set to take coaching job?

“As we know, he [Vermeulen] is technically outstanding,” said Dobson as per Rugby365.com.

“He acted as a player and a coach at Ulster and I suspect very much at the Springboks. I don’t know if he is going to be involved there. I am just hearing the odd talk,” Dobson said on Vermeulen.

“We started talking to him last year about his retirement and he was keen to stay in Cape Town.

“We reached an idea where he could sort of look after our forwards in the pathways, which is very important.”

Duane Vermeulen retired as the most-capped Springbok No 8 with two Rugby World Cup winners’ medals to his name.

The former Boks no.8 made his Test debut against Australia in Perth in 2012 and concluded his international journey in the 2023 Rugby World Cup Final against New Zealand in Paris.
