Fifteen players have been invited, but the group excludes players from the Stormers, who are preparing for the United Rugby Championship semi-final this weekend.

Notably, Siya Kolisi has been included in the group as he will remain firmly entrenched in the Springboks’ preparations as they build towards the 2023 Rugby World Cup with the hope of him recovering in time to travel to France.

However, as the Springboks also look at their alternative options at openside flank, it would appear that Marco van Staden remains very much in the picture.

Meanwhile, Stormers veteran Deon Fourie is also expected to be included in the planning once duties with the Cape franchise have come to an end.
