Wiehahn Herbst previously played for the Sharks between 2009 and 2014 before joining Irish club Ulster on a five-year deal until 2019.

The Bulls then signed the 32-year-old Klerksdorp-born front-ranker later that year.

Herbst then moved to the Lions before coming full circle and signing for the Sharks for the duration of the upcoming Rainbow Cup SA which kicks off this weekend when the Sharks travel to Cape Town to play the Stormers at the Cape Town Stadium.

Kick-off is at 14:00.

There’ll be no love lost between the two sides with former Stormers skipper Siya Kolisi now plying his trade in KwaZulu-Natal and hooker Bongi Mbonambi having reportedly already signed for the Sharks – although that deal hasn’t been confirmed as yet.
