The Sharks have announced the acquisition of lanky Springbok lock Jason Jenkins to boost their already stacked second row next season.

The 28-year-old Jenkins made his only Test appearance for the Springboks against Wales in Washington DC in 2018, but was called up to the wider training group in preparation for the 2023 Rugby World Cup.

Having enjoyed overseas stints with Toyota Verblitz and Munster previously, Jenkins joined Leinster in 2022, but a shortage of game time at the Irish province has now led to his departure and the subsequent move to the Sharks.

The Sharks confirmed the signing of Jenkins on Tuesday afternoon, making him one of several new recruits announced by the franchise in recent weeks, with Springboks world champions Andre Esterhuizen and Trevor Nyakane also set to move to Durban.
