With the support of the home crowd behind them, Argentina thrashed Australia 45-12 in the men’s Cup final; while the Aussie women’s side beat France 29-26 in the men’s Cup final.

And it was two historic achievements, as both Argentina and Australia were crown Cape Town Sevens champions for the first time ever.

In celebration of their respective milestones, Argentina’s men followed by the Aussie women spontaneously jumped — kit and medals and all — into a 2000 litre pool situated pitch-side at the Cape Town Stadium.

The epic pool party quickly took a chaotic turn when the pool burst, leading to a spillage of 2000 litres of water which flooded the field and the trophy podium.
