World Rugby dragging their heels in Bongi Mbonambi investigation

World Rugby appear to be severely lacking in urgency as they continue the so-called review of the Bongi Mbonambi-Tom Curry fuss.

World Rugby have made no notable progress in their investigation of the alleged rascist abuse case involving Bongi Mbonambi and Tom Curry.

Mbonambi is training with the Springboks ahead of the Rugby World Cup final but faces a waiting game to learn if he will be able to compete.

The player is said to be calm and focused and is not expecting any sanction from World Rugby.

Fans, analysts and journalists have been pouring through footage and audio but no concrete evidence of abuse has materialised.

Dominic Rumbles, Chief Communications Officer for World Rugby issued a statement on Tuesday assuring the public that they are conducting the review as quickly as possible.

“We will update you as soon as we have something to update,” Rumbles said.

“The aim is to do that review as quickly as possible.”

The sticking point in the investigation has been the gathering of evidence with some analysts suggesting this is because there simply isn’t any available.

It appears that the case will come down to hearsay and will leave World Rugby in a tricky position.

The Springboks are set to name their team to face the All Blacks on Thursday leaving World Rugby with only one more day to complete this investigation.

A massive challenge awaits the Springboks in the RWC final with bot sides highlighting the need for a fast start.

“I think everyone in the world knows New Zealand are famous for their courageous and skilful play,” said Marvin Orie.

“In Auckland they started that match with intensity, and we took the learnings from that match going into the game in London, and fortunately it went in our favour.

“We are hoping for the same this weekend, but this is a RWC final, and we know it will be a tight game.”
