When will the Springboks play France in the Quarter-finals?

Ireland’s 36-14 win over Scotland means that the Springboks will take on hosts France quarter-final at the 2023 Rugby World Cup.

The Springboks are still in the tournament following Ireland’s win against Scotland on Saturday evening.

After their win over Tonga last week, the Boks were on foot in the quarters but needed the Irish to win to ensure passage to the next round. A huge win for the Scottish would have made things more complicated for Jacques Nienaber’s team.

Ireland’s 36-14 win over Scotland means that the Springboks will take on hosts France quarter-final at the 2023 Rugby World Cup. This was already described by many as a final before a final.

Springboks will now play host France in the quarters

The Irish now top Pool B and Springboks finish as runners-up. This means that the winner of Pool B will play Pool A runners-up. While the Boks face hosts France, number-one-ranked Ireland will play the All Blacks in another blockbuster.

The match between France and South Africa will take place at the Stade de France on Sunday, 15 October at 21:00 (SA time).

By the time the match takes place, the Springboks would have had a two-week break and perhaps more fresh against the French team. The team has brought back outside centre Lukhanyo Am, who replaces injured Makazole Mapimpi.
