Springbok prop Ox Nche appears to have escaped a possible citing after a video emerged of him standing on Ireland flank Josh van der Flier’s hand on Saturday.

The replacement loosehead, who impressed when coming off the bench for the Springboks at the Stade de France, took exception to the back-rower holding him at a ruck.

Once Van der Flier had let go, Nche pressed down on the right hand of the reigning World Rugby Player of the Year.

Van der Flier was seen clutching his hand, but it did not require medical treatment and he was fit enough to continue.

At the time of publishing, there has been no indication that World Rugby would cite Nche.

The window for citings remains open for 36 hours after the match, which means the citing commissioner had until 11:00 on Monday, 25 September to decide whether Nche’s actions met a red card threshold.

Ireland won the match 13-8 to take control of Pool B.
